Thomas’s background

Thomas graduated with a Master of Arts in Heritage at the University of Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, South Africa.

Excelling in music as a scholar, he incorporated music in all of his postgraduate research.

Before completing his MA, Thomas attained a Bachelor of Arts in Dramatic Art (Honours). He majored in Scriptwriting and Arts, and Culture Management.

About Thomas’s teaching

After graduating with an MA, Thomas launched himself into a career in teaching music and performance.

As an instrumental teacher, he taught has taught both adults and children in many schools. He has also arranged music, and lead and conducted a variety of ensembles.

Thomas’s extensive teaching has provided him with experience in ABRSM and Trinity School Exam preparation. He has also trained and produced many drama and theatre productions.

“Although I do enjoy working through exam material with students, I am particularly good with beginners and older players. Many have found their way into to music and are not chasing certificates. Therefore currently my youngest student is a 9 year old recorder player who loves Miles Davis. My oldest is a clarinetist of 75 who wants to be Acker Bilk!”

Thomas’s teaching styles

Jazz is by no means the only style Thomas teaches and loves. He is able to teach any style with techniques and guidance. All lessons are specifically tailored to individual students’ needs.

Online clarinet teacher, saxophone & recorder teacher Thomas, like all of our online music teachers, was not new to online teaching when he joined Music Lessons Anywhere.
