Kostka Garcia
Online guitar teacher, online bass guitar teacher and online drums teacher

Kostka’s background
Born in Spain, Kostka lives in Stroud, England and works as a guitar, bass and drums teacher, as well as being an examiner for Rockschool.
Kostka started learning classical guitar at the age of nine, picking up the drums in his teens. He studied percussion for two years in the conservatory in his hometown of Bilbao Spain. Moving to Madrid in his early twenties, he played with many different bands.
Kostka’s preferred approach to music is based in his aural and improvisational skills. This has helped his awareness of the main hurdles many students encounter during their learning process.
“Our daughter thoroughly enjoys her lessons with guitar teacher Kostka. We have seen super progress in not only her finger style and musicality but also her understanding of tempo, and music theory. We highly recommend!”

After perfecting his reading skills and music theory knowledge, he studied classical and flamenco guitar. In 1999-2000 Kostka obtained the ABRSM Certificate of Teaching.
He has since worked for the Gloucestershire Music Service in England as a peripatetic guitar, bass and drums tutor.
An empathetic teacher, with a student centric approach, listening and understanding his students’ needs, helps them develop as players and to become independent in their learning.
“My two sons began guitar lessons with Kostka a month ago. Kostka is a true professional. I’m delighted with the guitar lessons my sons have received to date.” – Anne-Marie Nesbitt, Ireland

Lesson notes
Kostka’s experience and expertise, like all of our teachers, means that he is able to carefully monitor and record students’ progress. After every lesson, detailed lesson notes are emailed to students. As a result, strengths and weaknesses are covered. Thus students can focus their practise between lessons.
