Emily’s teaching

Teaching in schools for 6 years gave Emily the experience of working with students of all abilities and all styles, from many different backgrounds.

For example, many of Emily’s students spoke English as their second language. So she gained valuable experience in using clear instructions. As a result everyone could understand and make the most of her lessons.

Therefore Emily’s teaching approach is to ensure that there are no barriers to learning. Moreover, all lessons are tailored to each student’s individual needs.

Thank you so much for today! I’m always so surprised and pleased that the boys sit so peacefully and are so attentive during your Zoom music classes. They really enjoy it which has a lot to do with the way you teach :)”

Emily’s teaching methods

Emily’s expertise as a qualified teacher also means that she carefully monitors and records students’ progress. Additionally, lesson notes are emailed to students summarising every lesson. Most importantly, strengths and weaknesses are covered. So students can focus their practise between lessons.

She devises engaging ways to develop students’ strengths and also to overcome any weaknesses.

Emily is able to sensitively discuss students’ strong points and areas in need of improvement. She provides a supportive role for mature students, or for younger students’ parents or carers.

“I turned to Emily for help with my grade 5 tenor horn exam. Above all I found her to be really knowledgeable and helpful. Consequently with her support I was able to pass with a Distinction.”
Martin Jones – England
